We’ve had a steady diet of politics, Trump trials, and headlines full of doom and gloom for a week and it’s time to lighten things up. Just like betting horses, I’m going to give you three picks you can’t go wrong on:

(1) Loop It Up Savannah is a local program that serves over 10,000 kids across the Savannah area. Working with the schools, it promotes integrating arts education and early literacy curriculum to reduce disparities in reading readiness among pre-k, kindergarten, and first-grade students. Years ago, Greenpeace said, “Think globally, act locally” and this is a great example of doing just that—getting kids headed in the right direction and it’s been successful. I first became aware of this program because Sean Manion, a guy I have a lot of respect for, is The Funding & Resource Chair. I’ve never known Sean to undertake anything that in the end he didn’t make better. So, look at Loop It Up and as you’re thinking about your charitable donations, this year, include this very worthy program. The kids will appreciate your generosity…

(2) Walking tours have become a very popular way to see sultry and mysterious Savannah, especially at night. Whether it’s a pub crawl, a ghost tour, or just a general history tour, give Gregg Stevens a call (862) 304-9190, you won’t be disappointed. Gregg is a New Jersey transplant, hip, fun and still has just enough of that big city flair left to make him a lot of fun. Gregg’s a veteran, he’s been around, and he earned my respect a long time ago. If you’re visiting Savannah, or if you’re a local with company in town and want to have a Savannah experience, call Gregg. You’ll have fun and he’ll get you home safe…

(3) Kenny Munshaw got mentioned the other day in a post and deserved more than a passing comment. He’s at the piano in Planters Tavern at The Olde Pink House Monday through Thursday. He’s legitimate big time, think about Donald Fagan, Al Kooper, etc. Along with Planters, he will do studio and private gigs, so if you’re looking for an entertainer and want to wow your guests, call him at (912) 655-2647. Book early, he on the road a lot. You’ll thank me for this one…
