“…you can't always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, well, you just might find you get what you need…” You Can’t Always Get What You Want. The Rolling Stones. We’re going to have a presidential election in November, and to say the country is divided is something of an understatement. There are two probable candidates Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Both have strong, vocal supporters, bound together by their intense distrust and dislike of the opposing candidate, and a belief that he’ll ruin America. The Democrats view Trump as the orange Satan, an obnoxious asshole who’ll drag the country back into Dark Ages. They view Trump supporters as whack jobs with tinfoil hats who live on top of a mountain in Idaho, and worship guns. Trump supporters see Joe Biden as a silly old man tripping over things, forgetting where he is and sniffing women’s hair. They see Biden supporters as sexually confused sushi eaters who have a Commie flag in their garage and spend too much time playing with themselves. Complicit in all this is the modern media. A century ago, an old newspaper man named Charles Anderson Dana said, "...when a dog bites a man, that's not news. But, when a man bites a dog, now, that's news..." The modern online media has a cash cow and they’re working it for millions. Sex, bloodshed, scandal and political name calling are like money in the bank. If you doubt me, just go online and search for news. You’ll go on a Lewis & Clark expedition to find daily news, no drama, no hysteria, just anything written without bias, or a political slant-Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite, and Ben Bradley would puke. Forgotten in all this is the swing voter in the middle-you won’t have any trouble identifying him, he’s the guy over there pounding his head against the wall and thinking about doing a write in vote for his neighbor’s German Shepherd…
