In 2019, Joe Biden was getting torn a new one by Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary. Joe was campaigning from his basement, terrified of COVID and his campaign was in the tank. So, the money and the power brokers in the Democratic party, knowing Bernie couldn’t get elected in a nationwide race, drug Joe out of his basement, pinned a note to his jacket and sent him down to South Carolina to meet with wily, old kingmaker, James Clyburn.

When Biden left South Carolina, he had the democratic nomination stitched up because he had the African American vote. Black folks are the infantry of the democratic party—hot, cold, rain or snow, they’ll tough it out and stand on that sidewalk waiting patiently to cast their ballot and they’ll vote for the issues that affect their community. It makes sense considering what black folks went through to get the vote, I guess when you’ve spilled some blood for it, you tend to value it little more. The black vote coupled with the progressives would put Joe over the top, especially against an increasingly unpopular incumbent.

When Joe left South Carolina, he had one definite advantage--his name wasn’t Trump. But he had a kind of iffy situation on his hands. He’d committed to naming a black female running mate and that turned out to be Kamala Harris, who didn’t impress anyone. But, what the hell, a deal was a deal, and his name still wasn’t Trump.

So, Joe went to the White House, locked Kamala in the broom closet, appointed a bunch of people to key positions based on how they ranked on the “Inclusivity” chart and then stood around scratching his head wondering why the governmental train jumped the tracks on a weekly basis. He’d campaigned on the border issue, so when he had to deal with it, he scratched his head for a few minutes, said “fuck it, it’ll work itself out” and the rest is history—but his name still isn’t Trump.

As a fellow baby boomer, I know the signs and I live with them daily, our generation needs to retire and just sit around and second guess a younger generation- Joe is past it mentally and physically- stumbling around and forgetting things. He’s past the time he should be screwing around with nuclear weapons, he needs a hobby- maybe he could take up dog training, do something with his two German Shepherds that keep biting his Secret Service detail.

In the midst of this mess, Both parties are trying to feed the voting public damaged merchandise-Joe Biden is in failing health, even on a reduced schedule and with a lot of supervision and protection from staff, he’s still fumbling and stumbling on a regular basis.

Based on his performance he should be a sitting duck for a Republican candidate, but he isn’t because Trump is holding the Republican primary hostage.  It won’t happen because the GOP can’t get past Trump. He commands a sizeable chunk of the Republican party that sees him as a Messiah-
