The dictionary defines the Parallax effect as, “…how the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions, e.g. through the viewfinder and the lens of a camera…”  You know, look at something a different way, see something a different way-kind of like our 2024 Presidential Election? From the media’s current angle, the primary is over and it’s a Trump/Biden rematch, but don’t jump to conclusions. Remember “For What It’s Worth”, the old 60’s protest song Stephen Stills wrote, while a member of Buffalo Springfield? It opens “There’s something happening here but what it is ain’t exactly clear…” There’s an old trick in homicide investigation- listen closely to everything you hear and look closely at everything you see, but don’t jump to conclusions. Pay special attention to what’s not being said and what you’re not seeing- many times it’ll give you the answer to the puzzle. Be a little mistrustful of the media, they’re “for profit” corporations, not public service institutions and their main goal is selling airtime to advertisers. I can’t quite figure it out, but I’m guessing behind the scenes, the political heavyweights and mega dollar donors of both parties who don’t want a Trump vs Biden rematch are quietly exploring ways out. If Trump has the nomination sewed up, why is big money still backing Nikki Haley?…Everybody is being too quiet. They’re looking at something, maybe a floor fight at the convention, open rebellion, who knows, but the backroom guys have something up their sleeve. Getting rid of Trump presents all kind of special problems- the 30% MAGA base will vote for him if he’s in federal prison eating slop off a metal tray. So, if you get rid of him, that 30% will stay home. The democrats have their own special cross to bear, and her name is Kamala Harris. They have an incumbent president in failing health and a vice president nobody wants to see as the leader of the free world. So, just dump her, yeah, right, and kiss your most loyal voting block goodbye. Black folks put you in office and they can take you out. That’s why the parallax of what’s not being said is so interesting…
